Headaches

With all of the abuse I've put my body through over my lifetime, I'm not surprised that I have a few aches and pains at the midlife stage. I am turning 42 in January and I'm pleased with my life's accomplishments. I may not be financially wealthy yet, but that was never a goal, really. If it were, I would have been in the world of finance.

Excitement and doing what I enjoyed was far more important to me. I rarely stayed in a career for more than 5 years at a time. Being a bounty hunter for more than 10 years was a stretch for me.

I've had pretty fierce headaches for almost a decade now. Over a dozen concussions will do that, I always figured. This last month the headaches (which are always present but usually very low grade and quite tolerable) began to get intense. My pain tolerance is very high. (I hate to go to hospitals and I have been known to perform my own repairs. At one point I didn't even bother to see a doctor for cracked ribs. I would stitch myself up and never used pain killers.) The intensity of the pain these headaches were causing actually have prompted me to visit the hospital ER twice in the past week. I was concerned I may have a growth or something equally unpleasant. But even more worrisome was the idea that they would find nothing wrong.

My first trip they did a CT scan and a spinal tap.

I passed the CT Scan and when they checked the spinal fluid they did find an abnormal protein strand. They have no idea what it does. They gave me a steriod anti-inflammation pill to help.

Worst pill ever. Didn't help the headaches and made my food (more importantly my coffee) taste horrible.

A week later I was back in the ER where they did an MRI of my skull. The initial report came back clean (although a speciallist is checking that over). A new couple of pills and I'm out the door. These pills actually did take the edge off. (and my tastebuds returned to normal)

So basically I have to deal with severe headaches for no apparent reason. I have enough measurable symptoms that the doctors feel there is something, they just don't know what. I guess I'm off to try to find a nuerologist next.

Of course, if someone would just remove the pin from the doll, I would be much appreciative.

Headaches...bordering migraines? I enjoyed the last comment to round out the feel of your journal. Witty to boot!
